Become Hash House Harriers: 11 Questions to Answer Hasher Naming Survey Free

Hash House Harriers and Hounds Naming Survey aka Hashers Naming Survey! (Yes, apostrophe left out!)

Petitioning a Club for a name is a profoundly serious undertaking. If and when you are named, you will become an official and lifetime member of Hash House Harriers and of the Club (the drinking club with a running problem) that named you. As a member, you may participate in meetings that guide the Club, you may serve on the board, and you may participate in naming future members!

And by the way, hashing originated in December 1938 in Selayang Quarry, Selangor, then in the Federated Malay States (now Malaysia). A group of British colonial officers and expatriates began meeting on Monday evenings to run, in a fashion patterned after the traditional British paper chase or “Hare & Hounds”.

Want to know more about Hash House Harriers? For example, what do you get to do when you follow a trail? A hash kennel and event welcomes all of us no matter what our running, jogging, hiking or walking abilities. A hash lets adults play games like they are children.

There are checkpoints, false starts, dead ends, YBF, song checks, check backs, and loops to enable all hashers and wannabe hashers to catch up with the overachievers.

Most hashing runs end at a pub, restaurant, picnic or someone’s house for imbibery and other silly shenanigans. Hashers learn how to read markings on the trails and what they mean and how to respond.

Hashing is all about traditions, feeling good, encouraging others, getting healthy, being silly and drinking as much of your favorite drink within reason whether water, Gatorade, soda, beer, wine or other.

Fiddler on the Roof song “Tradition” shares the feeling of hashing via song and dance!
